Gabby Giffords statement on the murder of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen
WASHINGTON — Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, founder of the national gun violence prevention group GIFFORDS, released the following statement on the murder of Coral Springs Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen.
“I am heartbroken to learn about the murder of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer Bowen. This act of senseless violence has robbed us of a bright light and a rising leader who left us too soon,” said former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. “We know when guns are present, domestic violence becomes even deadlier. Women in the U.S. are 21 times more likely to die by gun violence than women in other high-income countries. As we mourn Nancy, we must commit to making our country a safer place for women. My heart is with Nancy’s loved ones and the Coral Springs community.”
