Rep. Gabe Evans’ agenda fuels gun crime in Colorado as the NRA convenes in Texas

Evans’ extreme agenda puts Colorado families at risk while gun industry CEOs profit.

DENVER — As the NRA’s annual meeting kicks off in Houston this week, Rep. Gabe Evans has made it clear that he takes his marching orders from the gun lobby.

During his time in the state legislature and now in the U.S. House, Evans has proudly and repeatedly voted to advance the gun industry’s interests over the safety of his constituents, earning himself an “A” rating from the NRA — which notably spent more than $55,000 to send him to Congress.

“Coloradans want leaders who put their kids’ safety first, not the profits of their political allies in the gun industry,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown. “From voting against waiting periods and safe storage laws, to advocating for arming teachers to address school shootings, to sponsoring a bill to allow concealed carry on school grounds in the Colorado General Assembly, Gabe Evans doesn’t just oppose commonsense gun safety policies — he’s actively pushing a deadly agenda that makes it harder and more dangerous for law enforcement officers to do their jobs. As a former cop, you would think he’d know better.”

“As the NRA gathers in Texas for its annual meeting, voters in Colorado are fed up with partisans like Gabe Evans. Enough is enough — and it’s time to make a change at the ballot box this November,” Brown added.
