Rep. Juan Ciscomani’s agenda fuels gun crime in Arizona as the NRA convenes in Texas
Ciscomani’s extreme agenda puts Arizona families at risk while gun industry CEOs profit.
TUCSON, Ariz. — As the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting kicks off in Houston, Rep. Juan Ciscomani has put azin the work to earn his “A” rating from the NRA by cozying up to the gun lobby, which spent nearly $50,000 to send him to Congress.
“Arizonans want leaders who put their kids’ safety first, not the profits of their donors in the gun industry. By adamantly opposing commonsense background checks that keep guns out of dangerous hands, Juan Ciscomani’s extreme agenda fuels gun crime and gun trafficking in Arizona — all while Republicans in Washington have cut funding for local and federal law enforcement,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown.
“Congressman Ciscomani can say he wants to end cartel violence, but his voting record has made it harder for law enforcement to curb gun trafficking at the border. As the NRA gathers for its annual meeting, voters in Arizona are fed up with partisans like Juan Ciscomani. Enough is enough — and it’s time to make a change at the ballot box this November,” Brown added.
Since Ciscomani was elected to the House in November 2022, he has:
- Voted to overturn the federal rules to prevent mass shootings.
- Voted to overturn longstanding safeguards on gun suppressors and other dangerous weapons.
- Supported the Law Enforcement Innovate to De-Escalate Act, which would create loopholes allowing the gun industry to sell untraceable, unregulated weapons like ghost guns.
- Failed to cosponsor the Stop Arming Cartels Act in 2025 and the Disarming Cartels Act in 2023 — two pieces of legislation that would have addressed the flow of firearms and ammunition from the U.S. into Mexico.
- Opposed changes to red flag laws, which keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals, including those who are experiencing mental health crises.
