Americans everywhere voted to stop the gun lobby

GIFFORDS PAC is beating the NRA 38–1

WASHINGTON — In the wake of its $10 million investment in key races this year, GIFFORDS PAC, the national gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, celebrated an overwhelming victory for gun safety champions in every part of the country. GIFFORDS PAC donated more than $500,000 and endorsed 443 candidates this cycle, by far its most expansive slate since its inception. This year alone, Gabby has been on the road for 174 days (57% of the time), making 70 trips to 40 cities to support allies and fight for gun safety.

So far, candidates endorsed by GIFFORDS PAC went head-to-head against NRA-backed candidates in 39 races. The gun safety candidate won in 38 of them.

“This issue looks a lot different than it did just 10 or 20 years ago. Voters in every region — and across urban, suburban and rural districts — are fed up with the corrupt politicians who trade our kids’ safety for gun lobby campaign cash,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown. “Gone are the days when the NRA could swoop into a race and determine its outcome. The truth is that voters left, right and center all want to stop dangerous people from accessing guns and making communities less safe. GIFFORDS looks forward to working with new majorities in Washington and state capitals to help lawmakers answer to families, not gun industry CEOs.”
