GIFFORDS PAC celebrates gun safety majority in U.S. Senate
WASHINGTON — GIFFORDS PAC, the national gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, celebrated the many key wins that have paved the way to regaining a gun safety majority in the U.S. Senate. This cycle, GIFFORDS PAC endorsed 17 gun safety champions across the country running for the Senate, all of whom pledged to take action on rising rates of gun violence if elected.
“Voters sent a clear message tonight: They want a Senate that will act on gun violence, not block the solutions Americans overwhelmingly support. From Roy Cooper in North Carolina to James Talarico in Texas, gun safety champions won in states across the country,” said former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.
“Every day, families across this country bury loved ones who have been shot and killed, and voters have had enough. Americans have shown they want a Senate that will stand up to the gun lobby, build on the progress we’ve made and pass the commonsense measures we know work, like background checks on all gun sales, red flag laws and investments in violence intervention. The Senate is where real change has stalled, and now Americans have given us a gun safety majority to deliver it. We’re ready to get to work,” Giffords added.
