2026 celebration of courage

FEATURING GABBY GIFFORDS & COACH STEVE KERR
Thursday, March 12, 2026
6 pm: Reception | 7 pm: Program
Mission Bay, San Francisco
Address provided upon RSVP

After a gunman stormed into San Francisco law firm Pettit & Martin in 1993, killing eight people and injuring six more, the Bay Area legal community banded together to fight for stronger gun laws. Thirty-three years later, GIFFORDS and GIFFORDS Law Center are leading the gun violence prevention effort nationwide, and California has some of the strongest gun laws in the country.

As we do every year, we’ll be gathering our supporters to honor those we lost at the 101 California Street shooting and the thousands of Americans who die from gun violence annually. We’ll celebrate the lifesaving progress we’ve made since our founding, and recognize the partners in law and public service that enable our critical work.

Join Gabby Giffords, Coach Steve Kerr of the Golden State Warriors, and other special guests as we recommit to our mission of building an America free of gun violence.

SPECIAL GUESTS

The Celebration of Courage will feature a number of speakers, elected officials, and special guests devoted to reducing gun violence in California and across the United States.

Steve Kerr is the head coach of the Golden State Warriors and one of the most respected leaders in professional sports. A nine-time NBA champion as a player and coach, Kerr has long used his platform to advocate for stronger gun laws and safer communities, particularly in the Bay Area. His commitment to ending gun violence is deeply personal: His father, Malcolm Kerr, was assassinated in 1984 while serving as president of the American University of Beirut. We are deeply grateful for Coach Kerr’s many years of support for GIFFORDS and our fight for a safer America.
