In 2024, we boosted gun safety in crucial elections and fought the gun lobby in the courts. Our movement is rapidly growing, and together we can take on the challenges ahead.
GIFFORDS was instrumental in elevating the issue of gun violence in the 2024 elections. Because of the support for our movement, we helped candidates across the country embrace commonsense policies to reduce gun violence. We launched GIFFORDS Gun Owners for Harris-Walz and invested heavily in persuading and activating Latino voters throughout the country. Throughout the election cycle, our founder Gabby Giffords served as a prominent advocate for gun safety and gave a speech at the Democratic National Convention.
But the election wasn’t our only priority in 2024. We also created a new tracking tool for community violence intervention legislation, continued to lead the charge in the courts to hold the gun industry accountable for reckless actions, and even launched an advocacy arm in Texas, one of our priority states.
Thanks to the strong organization you’ve helped us build, we’ve set a new standard for the role of gun safety in elections and continued to expand our legislative program. Your support makes all the difference.

Our organization is made up of three distinct entities, working in concert to end gun violence in America.
GIFFORDS Law Center forged ahead with its litigation work in 2024, continuing to defend lifesaving gun laws and to defeat gun lobby proposals. Our team filed two new lawsuits against gun companies in our fight to hold them responsible for the gun violence they cause. In Minnesota, we sued Glock for its role in the proliferation of dangerous auto sears, which allow anyone to easily convert a semiautomatic handgun into an illegal, fully automatic weapon.
We also announced a new case against Defense Distributed in California. This company is an online, open-source hardware and software organization that sells and markets products designed to allow users to evade firearm laws and create untraceable, unserialized guns.
Additionally, our attorneys favorably settled in our case on behalf of the city of Philadelphia, in which we’d sued two of the largest ghost gun companies in the US. Our settlement resulted in prohibitions on sales in the city and state, as well as a fine.
The lifesaving work done by our attorneys is chipping away at the gun lobby’s hold on this country and creating a safer future for our communities.
The lifesaving work we do at Giffords Law Center wouldn’t be possible without the courageous, committed leadership of our board of directors.
