Arizona’s weak gun safety laws put its residents at risk. State lawmakers have an obligation to act—immediately—to protect their communities from gun violence.

In 2024, Arizona had the 18th highest gun death rate among the states.
Arizona repealed its concealed weapons permitting requirement in 2010, allowing anyone 21 or over to carry a hidden, loaded firearm in public without a license. In an average year, 1,383 people die from gun violence in the state. That means that someone dies from gun violence every six hours. Sixty-six percent of these deaths are gun suicides, and 30% are gun homicides. In Arizona, the rate of gun deaths increased 22% from 2015 to 2024, compared to a 15% increase nationwide.
