Chris Harris
Vice President of Communications, GIFFORDS
Chris Harris has more than 15 years of experience leading communications and public affairs strategies for government leaders, political organizations, Fortune 100 companies, and global nonprofits. Chris was a senior member of now-Vice President Kamala Harris’s Senate team during her historic runs for president and vice president. From 2015–2019, Chris served as communications director for Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), the Senate’s leading voice on reducing gun violence, where he helped Senator Murphy usher in a new era of advocacy for smart gun safety laws, including guiding the media strategy surrounding the senator’s landmark gun violence filibuster in 2016.
He previously led communications for Senator Mark Udall’s (D-Colo.) 2014 campaign, American Bridge PAC, Media Matters for America, and the Kansas Democratic Party. Immediately prior to joining GIFFORDS, Chris served a diverse roster of private sector and nonprofit clients as a vice president at the global public relations firm Weber Shandwick and its public affairs unit, Powell Tate.
