Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Statement on the Anniversary of the March For Our Lives
March 21, 2019— Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, the leader of the gun violence prevention organization Giffords , released the following statement ahead of the anniversary of the March For Our Lives on Sunday, March 24.
Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:
“The March For Our Lives introduced the world to a generation of young Americans unafraid to speak out, unwilling to back down, and determined to change the country. No child should ever have to march in the streets to demand their elected leaders protect them—yet that’s exactly what these leaders did. Brave and courageous student leaders energized people of all ages, in all corners of the country, to stand with them in the fight to save lives. Their stories and calls for action reminded us all of what’s at stake, and fueled our fight to build a country where no one, no matter who you are or where you live, has to be afraid of gun violence. We’ve been proud to be by their side since then and look forward to the march ahead to build a safer future.”
