GIFFORDS PAC Endorses Senator Sheldon Whitehouse for Reelection

Washington DC — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, endorsed Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse for reelection to the US Senate.

“Senator Sheldon Whitehouse has consistently proven himself to be a strong gun safety champion throughout his public service career, and I’m proud to endorse him today. Senator Whitehouse has always prioritized the safety of communities across Rhode Island. With his vast legal experience, I know he’ll be a leading voice in our work to hold the gun industry accountable, and I’m excited to continue working with him to pass lifesaving reforms. Our country’s safety from gun violence is at stake this fall—and voters must elect Senator Whitehouse back to the US Senate.”

Senator Whitehouse has been a strong supporter of lifesaving commonsense measures on the Senate Judiciary Committee, like implementing universal background checks, strengthening safe storage requirements, regulating untraceable ghost guns, and banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. In 2022, Senator Whitehouse worked with colleagues across the aisle to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first federal gun safety law in nearly 30 years. Prior to his time in Congress, Senator Whitehouse served as a US attorney and as Rhode Island’s attorney general, during which he worked diligently to reduce crime across the state.
