GIFFORDS PAC endorses Aaron Ford for governor and Sandra Jauregui for lieutenant governor in Nevada
WASHINGTON — GIFFORDS PAC, the national gun violence prevention organization led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, released the following statement endorsing Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford for governor and Assembly Majority Leader Sandra Jauregui for lieutenant governor.
“Attorney General Ford and Majority Leader Jauregui are outstanding leaders who have proven that public safety is and will always be a top priority for them,” said Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. “As a survivor of the devastating 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting, Majority Leader Jauregui knows exactly how urgent this issue is to Nevadans. Meanwhile, Attorney General Ford has shown that he refuses to let gun violence go unaddressed, and that he will hold gun lobby–backed politicians accountable. For voters across the Battle Born State who care about keeping their communities safe, electing Aaron Ford and Sandra Jauregui as is the clear choice this November. I’m proud to endorse them.”
“I’m proud to have GIFFORDS’ endorsement, and I’ll tell you why it matters. As Attorney General, I didn’t just talk about fighting gun violence, I took on the gun lobby, sued to stop illegal weapons from flooding our streets, and prosecuted the people who put our communities in danger. That’s what I do,” said Attorney General Aaron Ford. “As governor, I’ll bring that same fight to the office every single day, because in Nevada, if you use a gun to harm someone, there will be consequences. Full stop. Gabrielle Giffords is a hero, and I’m honored to stand with her in this fight.”
“I’m proud to have worked with Giffords PAC to pass commonsense public safety laws, and I’m honored to receive their endorsement in my campaign for Nevada Lieutenant Governor,” said Majority Leader Sandra Jauregui. “As a survivor of the 1 October shooting, I know the horror of running for your life as thousands of bullets fall from the sky, and I’ve spent my time in public office fighting back so no other Nevadan experiences anything like that night. As Lt. Governor, I will continue standing up for policies that secure public safety, save lives, and protect communities across our state.”
Attorney General Aaron Ford has served as a school teacher, a state legislator, and since 2019, as Nevada’s attorney general. He has spent his time in office fighting to keep deadly ghost guns off the streets, close the gun show loophole, and expand background checks. He has also worked to ban bump stocks and other dangerous hardware used in the 2017 mass shooting at the Route 91 Music Festival in Las Vegas.
Majority Leader Sandra Jauregui has served as an assemblymember in Nevada for a decade, becoming the majority leader of the Nevada Assembly in 2023. In 2017, she survived the shooting at the Route 91 music festival, and has since renewed her fight for commonsense gun safety. Throughout her career, Majority Leader Jauregui has championed bump stock bans, ghost gun bans, child safe storage requirements, and stronger universal background checks. She has also fought to support law enforcement and pass red flag laws, also known as extreme risk protection orders, to protect those who are a danger to themselves and others.
