GIFFORDS celebrates gun safety trifecta in Michigan
WASHINGTON — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, celebrated the election of Governor-elect Jocelyn Benson, Democratic victories in the Michigan House of Representatives that paved the way to a majority in the chamber, and continued majorities in the Senate.
“This is a major victory for public safety in Michigan. Governor-elect Benson will continue the critical work being done to save lives in the state and put public safety ahead of partisan politics. With last night’s wins in the House of Representatives, where Democrats reestablished their gun safety majority, and the Senate, where gun safety champions maintained their current majority, we know a safer future is coming to the Great Lakes State,” said former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.
“We congratulate all the GIFFORDS PAC–endorsed candidates who held and flipped important seats in Lansing. We’re excited to get to work to finish the job on a number of issues and save lives,” Giffords added.

In the closing weeks of the campaign, former Congresswoman Giffords and her husband Senator Mark Kelly rallied with Benson in Detroit and launched canvasses across Michigan to help get out the vote and turn Michigan blue.
