Idaho lacks many basic gun safety protections and has weakened its gun laws in recent years. State lawmakers must take immediate action to reverse this deadly trend.
In 2022, Idaho had the nineteenth highest gun death rate among the states. In an average year, 303 people die from gun violence in the state. That means someone dies from gun violence every 29 hours. Eighty-five percent of those deaths are gun suicides, and 9% are gun homicides.
