Todd Blanche as attorney general would make America more dangerous
This week’s confirmation hearing made clear, Blanche is in the gun lobby’s pocket
WASHINGTON — GIFFORDS, the national gun violence prevention group led by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, called on senators not to confirm acting Attorney General Todd Blanche as attorney general, after his confirmation hearing wrapped up on Thursday.
“After this week’s hearings, it’s clear Todd Blanche’s loyalties lie with Donald Trump and the gun industry, not the American people. Blanche stood shoulder to shoulder with gun industry executives to gut gun safety protections and make Americans less safe, just weeks ago. When Liz Oyer refused to reinstate Mel Gibson’s gun rights, Todd Blanche fired her for refusing to do a political favor.
“This isn’t the leadership the American people need at the Department of Justice. Lives will be lost because of the reckless policies and favors Todd Blanche is pushing,” said GIFFORDS Executive Director Emma Brown.
