VICTORY: Gun safety champions Keisha Lance Bottoms and Josh McLaurin elected governor and lieutenant governor of Georgia

WASHINGTON —  GIFFORDS PAC, the national gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, congratulated Keisha Lance Bottoms and Josh McLaurin on their elections as governor and lieutenant governor of Georgia. Governor-elect Bottoms is the first Black woman elected governor in United States history.

“Congratulations to Governor-elect Bottoms and Lieutenant Governor-elect McLaurin on their historic victories. I am thrilled that voters across Georgia have made their voices heard and the state will be led by gun safety champions,” said former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. “Governor-elect Bottoms and Lieutenant Governor-elect McLaurin have long prioritized protecting families and building safer communities. Together, I know they will invest in community violence intervention and law enforcement efforts alike, while prioritizing passing the commonsense gun laws Georgia is still missing. GIFFORDS PAC was proud to endorse Governor-elect Bottoms and Lieutenant Governor-elect McLaurin, and I look forward to working with both of them in the coming months as we fight to make Georgia safer.”

GIFFORDS PAC endorsed Bottoms and McLaurin. Former Congresswoman Giffords has stumped on behalf of both candidates on the ground in Georgia in recent months to drive voter turnout.
