Nevada generally prohibits the manufacture or causing to be manufactured, importation into Nevada, keeping, offering or exposing for sale, or giving, lending, possession or use of a machine gun, unless authorized by federal law.¹

Federal law requires machine guns to be registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF), and generally prohibits the transfer or possession of machine guns manufactured after May 19, 1986.²

In 2019, Nevada also enacted a state law that generally prohibits trigger activators.³
