Iowa does not require firearm owners to register their guns.

Iowa prohibits a person or governmental organization from knowingly and willfully keeping or causing to be kept a record or registry of privately owned firearms or of the owners of privately owned firearms. Exceptions exist for criminal investigations, lists of stolen guns, and personal lists of privately owned guns.¹
