New Hampshire provides no minimum age for the possession of firearms, and does not penalize sale of a long gun to a minor, although federal age restrictions still apply. New Hampshire prohibits any person from transferring a handgun to a person under the age of 18,¹ and transferring ammunition of any kind to a person under the age of 16, other than to his or her own child, grandchild, or ward.²
