Brittany Pettersen

US House Colorado — 7th District Democrat
Like far too many people in Colorado, State Senator Brittany Pettersen has seen the deadly impacts of gun violence firsthand. Senator Pettersen grew up in Jefferson County and was in 11th grade at a nearby high school when the Columbine shooting took place. Moved by the experience, she first stepped up to run for the Colorado House in one of the most competitive races in the state in 2012, and went on to serve for six years before taking on a majority flipping State Senate seat.

Senator Pettersen knows that gun violence is preventable if we have leaders in Washington who have the courage to stand up and fight for our children’s future. As a mother, she is determined to ensure that the next generation doesn’t have to grow up with active shooter drills and can feel safe at school, the grocery store, movie theaters, and places of worship. In office, she has sponsored and passed nationally recognized policies to close background check loopholes for gun sales, keep guns out of the hands of those who commit domestic abuse, and provide a process to relinquish a person’s firearm if they are a danger to themselves or others.

Senator Pettersen knows what it takes to win hard races, and she’s prepared to help maintain the current gun safety majority in the House this fall. With her in office, Coloradans will have an unparalleled champion that will work around the clock to keep communities safe from senseless violence. We are certain that Senator Brittany Pettersen will be instrumental in passing commonsense measures through the House in 2023, and can help move our country forward in the years to come.

We are proud to endorse Brittany Pettersen for the US House of Representatives.
