Chairwoman Charniele Herring has broken numerous barriers throughout her career. In 2020, she became the first woman and the first African American to serve as majority leader of the House of Delegates and as chair of Courts of Justice. Now, in her role as chairwoman of the Democratic Caucus, she’s continuing to forge a bold path forward on numerous issues—including gun safety. In office, she’s been proud to lead her caucus in passing meaningful solutions to our nation’s epidemic of gun violence, including bills to create the Virginia Voluntary Do Not Sell Firearms List, require a background check for any firearm sale, address lost or stolen firearms, and enact extreme risk protection order laws that would allow law enforcement to remove dangerous weapons from those threatening to harm themselves or others. Chairwoman Herring has proven that she can create real change when given a gun safety majority to work with—and we must flip the House of Delegates this fall to make sure she can do so once again. With her leading the way, we can bolster public safety and ensure that our communities are given the tools they need to save lives.
