Delegate Cia Price is committed to tackling America’s epidemic of gun violence head on—starting in the communities she represents, where everyday Virginians are feeling the impact of the national gun violence surge. For Delegate Price, it’s unconscionable that more than 1,000 Virginians are killed by gun violence in any given year, and that Black Virginians are eight times more likely to die from gun-related homicide than their peers. For her, these are not just statistics—each number represents a personal tragedy. In Richmond, she’s taking action to ensure that things change. Delegate Price has numerous pieces of legislation designed to save lives, including bills to get more local control over gun safety measures and to establish a Center for Firearm Violence Intervention and Prevention at the Department of Criminal Justice Service. She’s also helped secure needed funding to address this issue by working with state and federal partners to find innovative ways to use CARES Act and ARPA funding, as well money from the Virginia Firearm Violence Intervention and Prevention Fund, for lifesaving community violence prevention programs. Delegate Price knows that now, more than ever, it’s important that we have gun safety champions in office that will stand up to Republican lies and hypocrisy and speak up for gun violence prevention, intervention, and implementation strategies.
