Representative Dina Titus has dedicated her entire professional life to education and public service. Prior to her time in Congress, she taught government classes at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and served in the Nevada legislature for two decades. Now, as a senior member of the US House, Representative Titus serves as the dean of Nevada’s congressional delegation and has made public safety a top priority. 

In the wake of the worst mass shooting in modern American history, the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, Representative Titus emerged as one of the leading voices in the House calling for substantive action to reduce gun violence. She introduced the Closing the Bump Stock Loophole Act to ban semiautomatic assault weapons and large-capacity ammunition feeding devices like the one used in the shooting. As a proud member of the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force in the House, Representative Titus supports the implementation of more stringent background checks on gun sales and transfers, as well as the passage of stronger extreme risk protection laws. In 2022, she helped pass the first major gun safety legislation to be signed into law in nearly 30 years, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act—which proved that progress was possible if legislators on both sides of the aisle came together for the safety and wellbeing of their communities. 

Over the last two years, however, we’ve seen that spark of progress dimmed by the actions of radical members of the Republican House majority. It’s imperative that voters across Nevada reelect a true champion like Representative Dina Titus to once again fight for progress on this issue. In doing so, we can once again implement the kinds of meaningful solutions needed to build a safer future for the next generation.
