Representative Elissa Slotkin has dedicated her career to serving the country she loves—from working to keep Americans safe in the intelligence and defense fields to serving her fellow Michiganders in public office. She was recruited into the CIA directly out of graduate school and trained as a Middle East analyst before serving three tours of duty alongside our military in Iraq. Prior to flipping a red district to blue in 2018 and serving in the House of Representatives, Representative Slotkin negotiated some of the Pentagon’s most sensitive national security matters. Today, she’s continuing to prioritize the safety of the next generation by working to end senseless gun violence.

Representative Slotkin grew up in a gun-owning family and supports the Second Amendment rights of individuals who operate guns with care and safety. Because of her experience handling firearms overseas, she knows the power of weapons of war and that gun violence is a serious national security and public health issue. For her, it’s also personal, as Representative Slotkin is the first member of Congress to have two school shootings in her district at Oxford High School and Michigan State University. In Congress, she has been a leader on the issue of gun safety and worked diligently to pass lifesaving measures, drafting the Safe Guns, Safe Kids Act, the Gun Violence Prevention Research Act, and the No Crime Left Behind Act.

With our gun safety Senate majority on the line this fall, we must do everything possible to elect Representative Elissa Slotkin to be Michigan’s next US senator. We know that with her in office, Michiganders will have a champion that will not stop fighting until every American can live their lives free from the threat of senseless gun violence.
