George Whitesides has spent his career bringing people together to solve some of the biggest problems facing California communities. If elected to Congress, he’ll continue to do just that in Washington DC by working with colleagues from across the political spectrum to improve life for his constituents and pass meaningful legislation to address the issues they face—including senseless gun violence.

For Whitesides and his community, this issue is deeply personal. In 2019, a shooter armed with a homemade ghost gun took the lives of two innocent students and wounded several others at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita, rocking the community and changing the trajectory of numerous lives. Having seen this pain inflicted on families and too many children across Southern California, Whitesides is determined to push for meaningful solutions to end America’s epidemic of gun violence once and for all in office—like expanding background checks to all gun sales, disarming domestic abusers and those who pose a threat to themselves or others, and fully funding desperately needed community violence intervention programs. As a parent himself, Whitesides knows that we owe it to our children to get this lifesaving work done so the next generation can grow up free from the emotional trauma of active shooter drills and the daily threat of everyday violence.

In recent years, California’s 27th District has been among the closest in the country. This fall, voters have the opportunity to elect a committed gun safety champion to fight on their behalf in George Whitesides. He will always put his constituents’ needs above the whims of the corporate gun lobby—unlike his NRA-backed opponent Congressman Mike Garcia—and fight for a safer future for all. Californians must send him to Washington in November.
