State Representative Jasmine Crockett makes every decision with one goal in mind: protecting the civil liberties of those in underrepresented communities. Her passion for empowering people politically led her to a career as a public defender, county party chair, and civil rights and criminal defense attorney. In the midst of political turmoil and racial inequality, she laced up her shoes to march for justice and ran for the Texas House of Representatives. After a breakout freshman session—where she filed more bills than any other freshman, assembled a wide coalition to pass landmark criminal justice reforms in the House, and brought more accessibility and accountability to her office than before—Representative Crockett is now hoping to take her fight for a better, safer Texas to Congress, where she will continue to be a passionate advocate for gun safety. 

In Washington DC, Representative Crockett hopes to help usher in a new generation of leadership in the halls of Congress. As a gun owner who is trained and licensed to carry a weapon herself, Representative Crockett’s own experiences mean she will bring a unique perspective to the effort to curb America’s epidemic of gun violence. She hopes to help implement needed reforms, like passing universal background checks, banning assault weapons, closing loopholes that allow dangerous people to access firearms, and addressing gun trafficking, while also respecting the rights of responsible gun owners.

Now more than ever, Texans deserve a champion who will always stand up to the corruption of the gun lobby and put their safety first. Representative Jasmine Crockett is that champion, and we know she will always find the courage to act to keep her constituents safe.
