As a mother, Delegate Kelly Convirs-Fowler knows that unchecked gun violence poses a unique risk to our children, and that more must be done to keep them safe in their homes, at schools, and in public spaces throughout Virginia. Tragically, gun violence is now the leading cause of death for children in the United States, and Delegate Fowler has worked tirelessly in Richmond to curb this alarming trend since she was first elected in 2017. At the same time, some of the most horrific instances of gun violence in the Commonwealth have rocked her hometown of Virginia Beach. In office, Delegate Fowler has worked to honor the lives lost in her community with action, fighting to expand background checks to all gun sales in Virginia, to implement a first of its kind statewide extreme risk law, and to provide funding for community violence intervention programs. While it’s a start, Delegate Fowler knows there is so much more to be done to keep families across the Commonwealth safe. This fall, voters must mobilize like never before to flip the House of Delegates and give gun safety champions like Delegate Kelly Convirs-Fowler the chance to continue building on the progress they’ve made and working to save lives across Virginia.
