Representative Madeleine Dean has called Pennsylvania home her entire life. It’s where she grew up, where she raised a family, and where she has had the privilege of serving her community as a legislator since 2012. Throughout her career, Representative Dean has been a longtime advocate for commonsense gun safety measures—in fact, during her time in the Pennsylvania State House, Representative Dean co-founded the still-active PA SAFE Caucus, a gun safety group responsible for authoring and advocating for a host of legislative responses to our country’s high rates of gun violence. 

She’s continued this important work in Congress, where the first piece of legislation she ever introduced centered on the need to address ghost guns, which are untraceable and undetectable firearms that can be bought online without a background check. In Washington DC, she has also been a leading voice in the push to require universal background checks on all gun sales and to disarm those who commit domestic abuse as a member of both the Gun Violence Prevention Taskforce and the House Judiciary Committee. 

Representative Madeleine Dean is exactly the kind of solutions-oriented champion we need leading the way on this issue if we want to make continued progress and keep our communities safe. We must send her back to Capitol Hill next fall, where we know she’ll continue to stand up to the gun lobby and anyone else who tries to stand in the way of a safer future for the next generation.
