Former US Attorney Nick Brown was taught by his dad, an Army veteran active in the Civil Rights Movement, and his mom, a nurse and healthcare administrator, the importance of being involved, pursuing justice, and making a difference. Throughout his career—from the Army to the courtroom—these values have helped guide Brown in his work, and he’s always striven to put the needs of Washingtonians first. As his state’s next attorney general, he’ll continue to do so by fighting tirelessly to keep children and families safe from senseless violence.
As a private attorney representing the Alliance for Gun Responsibility, prosecutor, general counsel to Governor Jay Inslee, and as a US Attorney, Brown has consistently advocated for commonsense solutions to end our nation’s epidemic of shootings and taken on the root causes of violence. In 2018, he helped write Initiative 1639—a landmark ballot measure to regulate deadly weapons of war and ensure the safe storage of firearms that was approved by nearly 60% of Washington voters and signed into law. As Washington’s next attorney general, Brown will continue his work tackling violent crime, getting dangerous untraceable ghost guns off of the streets of the Evergreen State, limiting the availability of high capacity magazines, and disarming bad actors motivated by hate—especially as Washington has experienced the highest number of hate crimes in at least 20 years.
Now more than ever, Washingtonians need a gun safety champion as attorney general who is committed to implementing, expanding, and enforcing the state’s strong gun laws and holding anyone who violates them accountable for their actions. That champion is Nick Brown—with him leading the way on this issue and standing up to the gun lobby at every turn, we know a safer future is within reach for the next generation.
