Delegate Rip Sullivan knows that Virginians of all stripes deserve the chance to live free from the threat of gun violence. As a parent with children and grandchildren who attended public schools and a son who attended Virginia Tech, this is an issue that is particularly important to Delegate Sullivan. In office, he has always found the courage to act and has never tired in the fight to enact stronger gun laws and save lives. Delegate Sullivan is particularly proud to have authored and passed Virginia’s extreme risk protection order law. Because of this lifesaving legislation, hundreds of substantial risk orders have been issued and executed across the Commonwealth since the law went into effect in July 2020—providing law enforcement with an effective tool to ensure that those seeking to do harm to themselves or others can’t access dangerous firearms. While we’ve made great strides in the fight to keep our communities safe in recent years, there is still so much more that needs to be done in Virginia to build a safer future for the next generation. By reelecting champions like Delegate Rip Sullivan to office, we can take back the majority in the Virginia House of Delegates and ensure that commonsense solutions become and remain the law of the land.
