As a father and a teacher, Delegate Schuyler VanValkenburg is acutely aware of the need to protect our children from the dangers of senseless gun violence. As a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, he’s led legislation to hold gun owners accountable when a minor gains access to a firearm that is used to commit a crime or cause bodily injury to themselves or others. In the wake of the Parkland shooting, Delegate VanValkenburg stepped up to serve as one of just three Democrats on a select committee for school safety, and later worked to pass an extreme risk law that’s proven successful at removing guns from those who pose a risk to themselves or others in more than 100 cases. Over the last six years, he’s proven that he’ll always put the safety of his constituents first—and now he’s running for the Virginia Senate to continue advocating for sensible solutions to our country’s epidemic of violence.
