State Senator Sydney Kamlager is a passionate advocate for justice who is determined to help tackle America’s epidemic of gun violence. She believes all communities should have access to equitable resources in order to ensure their safety. Throughout her career—from her time as a member of the Los Angeles County Commission on Children and Families, to the California Assembly, and now as a state senator for the 30th District—Senator Kamlager has been a leading voice in the fight to safeguard the neighborhoods she represents from senseless violence.

In office, Senator Kamlager has been a leader in criminal legal reform. She has successfully worked on legislation to address probation, gang enhancements, humane treatment in correctional facilities, and law enforcement reform. Among her most prominent legislative victories is the passage of the historic CRISES Act, which created community-oriented alternatives to policing. Senator Kamlager has also been a leader in gun violence prevention policy in California by working to get ghost guns off the streets; prohibiting the sale of guns on state property; and legislating for stronger restrictions on who can purchase, sell, and possess firearms. If elected to Congress, we know she will continue this work by advocating for universal background checks and strong extreme risk laws at the federal level.
