Elyssa Cherney is a Chicago-based writer who’s covered the lasting trauma of gun violence during her career as a newspaper reporter. She was among the team of journalists at the Orlando Sentinel who chronicled the aftermath of the Pulse nightclub mass shooting and worked on the Chicago Tribune’s overnight and breaking news desks. Elyssa is a graduate of Northwestern University.
