Kevin O’Keefe serves as GIFFORDS’s deputy political director and has been with the organization since November 2020. In this role, he oversees GIFFORDS’s day-to-day political operations and works with candidates, campaigns, and stakeholders to elect gun safety champions to office across the country. Before transitioning to the political team, Kevin served as a member of the organization’s federal affairs team, where he worked with legislators to introduce and pass lifesaving gun safety legislation—including the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act.

Prior to joining GIFFORDS, Kevin worked for several members of Congress on Capitol Hill, including Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Representative Jahana Hayes (D, CT-05). Kevin is a Chicagoland native and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
