Former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell Responds to Miami Gardens Shooting
Miami, FL — Today,Giffords Senior Advisor, former Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell released the following statement after at least 10 people were shot in Miami Gardens during a video shoot for rapper French Montana at a local restaurant. Reports indicate that there was an altercation that resulted in the gunfire.

“Last night, senseless gun violence once again devastated a Florida community. Those who were at the Miami Gardens restaurant, especially the 10 people who were injured, will now have to live with the trauma caused by these horrific acts of gun violence. My heart goes out to everyone who was injured, and I’m wishing them a speedy recovery. I’m also calling on Florida’s leaders to focus on increasing public safety and preventing shootouts in public places instead of advocating for dangerous policies like permitless carry, which will only make our communities less safe.”
