Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords Remembers Victims of El Paso Shooting, Four Years Later

El Paso, TX — Today, former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, founder of the gun safety organization GIFFORDS, reflected on the tragedy and devastation following the mass shooting at a Walmart in El Paso four years ago. Twenty-three lives were lost in the shooting and 22 people were injured.

    Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords:

“Four years ago, an act of hate led to 23 people losing their lives while simply running errands and shopping on a Saturday afternoon. This heartbreaking tragedy didn’t have to happen, but because of the easy access to guns in the United States, people radicalized by hate can commit horrific acts of violence. Hate has no place in our country and it doesn’t have to be this way. Today and every day we stand with the El Paso community, the Latino community, and the victims of this horrific crime. We won’t stop fighting to create a safer Texas and America.”
