GIFFORDS Launches New Gun Owners for Safety Coalition in Georgia

Washington DC — Today, GIFFORDS, a gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, launched its ninth Gun Owners for Safety state coalition in Georgia. Gun Owners for Safety is a home for responsible gun owners who stand for commonsense gun safety laws and against the gun lobby’s radical agenda.

“I always say it takes all of us to end gun violence: survivors, advocates, lawmakers, and gun owners. I am proud that GIFFORDS has organized gun owners who, like myself, believe that commonsense gun laws and the Second Amendment go hand in hand. These responsible gun owners are speaking out against the gun lobby with a level of courage many of our legislators don’t have. With this new coalition in Georgia, I’m confident we’ll start to see changes that will protect communities across the state.”

I continue to hear more stories about children finding an unsecured gun and unintentionally shooting themselves or a loved one. There are solutions we can advocate for here in Georgia, like child access prevention laws and secure storage requirements, that will save lives. I’m proud to be a part of GIFFORDS Gun Owners for Safety and the coalition in Georgia.”

The Georgia coalition of Gun Owners for Safety (GA-GOS) includes hunters, sport shooters, veterans, those who carry for self defense, and other gun owners committed to fighting gun violence. GA-GOS supports gun safety laws and responsible gun ownership while upholding the values of the Second Amendment.
