Washington DC — Today, Giffords PAC, the gun safety organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, endorsed former Congressman Tom Suozzi in the special election for New York’s Third Congressional District.

Congressman Suozzi has been a leading advocate for lifesaving gun safety measures at the national and local level for decades. In 2022, he joined Democrats and Republicans to pass the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, the first federal gun safety legislation signed into law in nearly 30 years. In office, Congressman Suozzi voted in support of universal background checks and cosponsored crucial legislation, including measures to regulate ghost guns and enact a federal extreme risk protection law. As Nassau County Executive, he successfully pioneered a gun buyback program, removing more than 1,100 illegal handguns.
