GIFFORDS PAC endorses Dan Rayfield for Oregon attorney general

WASHINGTON — Today, GIFFORDS PAC, the national gun violence prevention organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, endorsed former Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives Dan Rayfield for Attorney General of Oregon.

“GIFFORDS PAC is proud to endorse Dan Rayfield to be Oregon’s next attorney general today,” said former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. “It is imperative that Oregonians continue to have a strong gun safety champion prioritizing their safety as attorney general. The next attorney general will play a crucial role in defending the state’s gun laws from attacks from the gun lobby and holding bad actors in the gun industry accountable. In the state legislature and as speaker, Dan Rayfield has advocated for strong gun safety laws and helped pass significant lifesaving reforms that have helped safeguard our communities from harm. I know that as attorney general he can continue to make important strides in building a safer future for the next generation.”

“Parents shouldn’t have to worry when they send their children to school. And no one should have to worry when they go to the grocery store. Unfortunately, that’s the reality we’ve been facing for decades. Reducing gun violence is critical to making our communities safer, and It’s an honor to receive the GIFFORDS PAC endorsement,” said former Oregon Speaker of the House Dan Rayfield.

Throughout his career, Speaker Rayfield has consistently championed legislation to protect Oregonians from gun violence—from helping to pass universal background checks in the state legislature to convening a workgroup as speaker of the House to fill gaps in gun laws, fund early violence intervention work, and get dangerous, untraceable ghost guns off of Oregon’s streets.
