Gabby Giffords: Thank you, President Biden

“We all owe President Joe Biden a debt of gratitude for his steady leadership when our country needed it most”

WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, founder of the national gun violence prevention organization GIFFORDS, released the following statement thanking President Joe Biden for his leadership in the wake of his decision to not run for reelection.

“We all owe President Joe Biden a debt of gratitude for his steady leadership when our country needed it most. In three and a half short years, he ended a pandemic, rescued the economy, fought climate change, and passed the most consequential gun violence prevention bill in decades. And through it all, he maintained his trademark decency, optimism, and empathy,” said former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. “I will be forever grateful to President Biden for his compassion and personal friendship to me as I was recovering. He held my hand and gave me his ‘word as a Biden’ that he and Jill would always be there for me—and they were. He was by my side when I returned to cast my first vote following the shooting, and I was proud to stand by his side throughout his presidency, where he did more to fight gun violence than any president in history. His accomplishments will save lives for years to come. I am proud of my friend.”
