Gabby Giffords: Harris-Walz will “protect Americans’ safety and freedoms”

WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, founder of the national gun violence prevention organization GIFFORDS, released the following statement in response to tonight’s vice presidential debate between Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator JD Vance.

“Tonight, the country got to see the Tim Walz I’ve come to admire over the last 18 years. He was the only candidate on that stage representing a vision that will protect Americans’ safety and freedoms. Like me and a vast majority of gun owners, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz support the Second Amendment and support common sense laws that keep American communities safe. A Harris-Walz administration will fight the gun lobby and close dangerous loopholes that let guns fall into the wrong hands,” said former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords. “Ever since we were sworn into the House together nearly 20 years ago, I have known Tim to be the caring, passionate, and fearless leader we saw on the debate stage. Tonight he proved exactly why this country needs Kamala Harris in the White House.”
