Do Your Job, Mitch McConnell

One year ago, the US House of Representatives passed H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019. It was the first major piece of gun safety legislation passed in over a decade.

One year later, however, that lifesaving bill continues to sit on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s desk. He hasn’t lifted a finger.

In the past year, we’ve rallied and lobbied, made calls, and sent letters. But Senator McConnell has ignored us, and he’s ignored the vast majority of Americans (more than 90 percent!) who support requiring background checks for every gun sale.

So, to mark the anniversary of H.R. 8, we decided to try something new. To express our outrage and get Mitch McConnell’s attention, we teamed up with Washington DC-based artist Robin Bell to project a message on a building blocks from the US Capitol.

Check out our projection and hear a little more about why we did it from our Engagement Director, Sheila E. Isong :

If you’re as outraged as we are, give Mitch McConnell a call. Dial 877-960-2185 and we’ll connect you.
