In 2018, voters in Texas and across the country demanded that elected leaders no longer just dream of a world where gun violence isn’t a daily problem, and instead start working tirelessly to make it happen. Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher answered that call—ousting an incumbent that voted in lockstep with the gun lobby and winning the chance to serve the residents of Texas’s Seventh Congressional District in Washington DC. By working alongside local and national gun safety groups, law enforcement leaders, and community members to advocate for data-driven, thoughtful policy solutions to reduce gun violence, she’s helped keep her community safe for future generations.
 
In office, Congresswoman Fletcher has co-sponsored and voted for legislation to expand background checks to all gun sales and supported bills to close the loopholes that allow individuals who have committed domestic abuse and people convicted of felonies to buy guns. She has also played an active role in supporting efforts to fund studies that would allow our leaders and the American people to better understand the root causes of gun violence and its impacts. In 2022, Congresswoman Fletcher helped pass the first major gun safety legislation signed into law in nearly 30 years—the landmark Bipartisan Safer Communities Act—and time after time, she has brought together diverse coalitions of stakeholders around this issue as leader in the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.

In recent years, too many Texans have been lost to senseless gun violence. With so much on the line this November, we must reelect leaders like Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher who are laser-focused on protecting their communities from harm.
