In recent years, Michelle Vallejo has seen senseless gun violence devastate her state far too many times. She is tired of inaction in the face of tragedies like the mass shootings in El Paso and Uvalde that have torn apart Latino communities like those in which she grew up. For Vallejo, the fight to save lives is personal—and she’s running for Congress to ensure that no Texan has to continue living in fear for their families’ lives.

If elected, Vallejo will be a vocal proponent for passing desperately needed gun safety laws at the federal level, including measures to close loopholes in our federal background checks system, remove dangerous weapons from those who seek to harm themselves or others, and restrict the sale of large-capacity magazines. She knows it is critical that we raise the minimum age for civilians to purchase a firearm and repeal harmful policies like permitless carry, which have flooded public spaces across Texas with unchecked guns and put countless lives at risk. Having grown up in the Rio Grande Valley, Vallejo knows we can pass meaningful solutions to curb violence without infringing on the rights of law-abiding gun owners like her family—and that the vast majority of gun owners want to see reasonable safety measures put in place to keep their communities safe.

In Washington DC, Vallejo will stand up to the extremism of the gun lobby and its enablers in the House of Representatives, including her opponent Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz. With so much on the line, voters must mobilize like never before to reinstate a gun safety majority in the US House—starting with electing Michelle Vallejo to Congress, where she’ll be the champion that Texas families deserve.
