Rob Menendez was born and raised in Hudson County and has made public service his life’s work. He currently serves as counsel at the national law firm Lowenstein Sandler and as commissioner of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. As the grandson of Cuban immigrants and the son of a dedicated public school educator and a trailblazing political leader, he’s always been grounded in the values of his community—respect, tolerance, hard work, New Jersey common sense, and the unshakable idea that everyone should have the opportunity and tools to succeed. 

While his home state of New Jersey has taken decisive action to protect its residents and set an example for other states by enacting some of the country’s strongest gun laws, Menendez knows that there is still more to do to protect his future constituents from harm. Jersey City, where he lives with his wife and two children, has often been impacted by the devastating effects of gun violence—including a 2019 domestic terrorist attack on a kosher grocery store that took the lives of four people, including a Jersey City police officer. In Congress, Menendez will always stand up for stronger gun laws and work to pass the kinds of commonsense legislation needed to save lives, like universal background checks, a ban on assault weapons, and increased funding for gun violence research.

With control of Congress likely to be decided by the slimmest of margins this fall, it is imperative that we elect leaders like Rob Menendez who are determined to shape a better, safer future for families and communities across New Jersey.
