In Richmond, Senator Surovell has been an unparalleled champion in the fight to save lives from senseless shootings and led numerous pieces of legislation to keep his constituents safe, including bills to create Virginia’s voluntary do-not-sell list and to give localities the power to regulate firearms on government property and at permitted events. When Virginia was on the brink of passing historic extreme risk protection order legislation in 2020, Senator Surovell helped negotiate the final version of the bill that was passed and signed into law, and which has now been used to effectively keep guns out of the hands of those seeking to do harm to themselves or others in hundreds of instances. With our gun safety majority in the Virginia Senate on the line this fall, it’s imperative that voters reelect proven champions in this fight, like Senator Scott Surovell.
