A member of Texas Gun Owners for Safety, Scott is an avid bird hunter/sporting clays enthusiast. He was an NRA accredited shotgun shooting instructor, but also a proponent of stronger regulation of firearms. Scott has been spreading the message about the Texas chapter of Gun Owners for Safety by speaking as a gun owner who supports commonsense solutions like universal background checks.

A native of western Kansas, Scott moved with his family to Dallas three decades ago. When not walking the High Plains with Shiner, his less than trusty pointer, hunting game birds, he works as a business consultant and writer. He is a Vietnam-era veteran, with a son and daughter-in-law who are both Air Force captains.
