POLITICO: Giffords ties gun control push to State of the Union

Former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has planned a strong push for gun control legislation to coincide with Tuesday’s State of the Union address. Giffords and husband Mark Kelly will headline a fundraiser in Washington for her super PAC, Americans for Responsible Solutions. The group’s first ad will also air Tuesday. Pia Carusone, executive director of the super PAC, said the ad was still in production and the media buys have not yet been finalized, but their goal was for the ad to bookend the address. Carusone declined to disclose how much the group was spending on its first ad campaign. The D.C. fundraiser to benefit the group will be held at “one of Gabby’s favorite spots,” Matchbox in Eastern Market on Tuesday, according to an invitation for the fundraiser obtained by POLITICO.
