Release: ARS Releases Gun Stewardship Guide for Father’s Day

In advance of Father’s Day on Sunday, Americans for Responsible Solutions (ARS) has published an 10-point guide to responsible gun ownership (.pdf), authored by co-founder Capt. Mark Kelly.

“I’m a longtime gun owner – and a dad,” said Kelly. “Father’s Day is just around the corner, and responsible gun ownership is one of the most important things I teach my own kids.”

ARS is distributing the guide to its members who have identified themselves as gun owners or National Rifle Association members. Kelly and his wife, former Rep. Gabby Giffords, are longtime gun owners.

The guide closes with a call from Kelly for responsible citizenship as a part of responsible gun ownership: “Too often, support for gun rights is interpreted as support for policies that promote more guns at any cost. However, with our rights come very important responsibilities, and our commitment to our right to bear arms must be matched with a similar commitment to be responsible stewards of our Second Amendment rights. Today, powerful special interests dominate the debate over guns in this country and prevent a healthy, informed debate over how our laws can reflect our commitment to responsibility. Pay attention, and make sure your representatives are not only defending your gun rights, but also keeping you and your families safe.”
