ARS Launches GA Campaign Against "The Most Extreme Gun Bill In America"
WASHINGTON, D.C.– Americans for Responsible Solutions, a national organization founded by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and retired combat veteran and astronaut Captain Mark Kelly to support responsible gun ownership, launched a campaign following the Georgia State House passage of the so-called “guns everywhere bill,” HB 875. The bill will soon be considered by the State Senate.

As part of the campaign, Georgia ARS members are ramping up pressure on lawmakers by sending emails and making calls to the offices of Governor Nathan Deal and Lt. Governor Casey Cagle and signing a petition. The half-million ARS members nationwide are also being alerted of provisions in the bill that would open portions of Georgia’s airports to guns. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is the busiest in the U.S.
“Georgia lawmakers are now considering passing the most extreme gun bill in America. It would allow people to carry guns everywhere – in schools, airports, and even bars – and reverses a one hundred year rule preventing guns in churches,” said Pia Carusone, executive director of Americans for Responsible Solutions. “We support responsible firearm legislation, but instead of preventing gun violence, HB 875 would make Georgia’s communities less safe, for example allowing people convicted of threatening others with guns to receive concealed carry permits.”
“I served in the Army for 24 years, enlisting during the Cold War and serving beyond the attacks of September 11, 2001. Guns are part of our national and Georgia heritage, but put into the wrong hands in the wrong place, they can cause grievous harm,” said Sergeant Brigitte Joyce, U.S. Army (Ret.) and Georgia member of Veterans for Responsible Solutions. “As someone who dedicated my career to keeping our nation safe and protecting our rights, I’m urging Georgia lawmakers to keep our state safer from gun violence and oppose the extreme gun legislation currently pending in the Georgia state senate.”

Guns Everywhere: 30s
Georgia lawmakers have an idea. And it’s not a good one, in fact it’s the most extreme gun bill in America. They want to allow folks to carry guns into churches and schools. Into bars and on college campuses. In airports, courthouses, even your child’s classroom. They want guns everywhere. Even in the hands of previous gun offenders. Call Governor Deal 404-900-7701 and tell him: Stop the Guns Everywhere Bill.
